COVID-19 VIDEO PROFILE FAQ

Q: WILL OUR SHIPMENT BE DELAYED?

A: Unless there is an emergency weather or COVID-19 event, we do not foresee packages being delayed. However, that is subject to change. When you order the video kit, there will be a place at checkout to select your shipping method. FedEx Ground is included in the price of the video profile and takes anywhere from 2 to 5 business days to arrive. If you would like to select a faster shipping method, an extra fee will apply

Q: IS IT OKAY TO WEAR MASKS WHEN FILMING B-ROLL?

A: We have been receiving and using footage with masks and at this point, all viewers will definitely understand the circumstances and know you are being safe. While we suggest filming as much as you can safely without masks, we do encourage you to follow safety guidelines by wearing masks in public places or around other people when necessary. We don’t want you to avoid an important activity because you are worried about having a mask on.

Q: WE ARE WORRIED ABOUT FILMING DURING COVID AND HOW OUR VIDEO WILL PORTRAY US. WHAT DO WE DO?

A: We understand that COVID is limiting people from being able to film activities, locations, or with people you might wish to film. However we have still made hundreds of successful and effective video profiles during this time period!

We suggest you submit photos or pre-existing video clips on the provided flash drive to help fill some voids and give additional supplement content to your editor, like friends and family interaction. Even if your best previously shot clips are vertical, you can still submit them for consideration.

Some people are also filming video chat sessions with family to show more interaction if that is something they like to do. Just be sure to use the provided camera to film yourselves video chatting instead of just screen capturing the actual chat.

Be sure to also film plenty of footage of yourselves in your home and neighborhood. It’s really great to use the tripod when possible to get steady shots that both of you can be in to show your interaction together! Just simple everyday life kind of B-roll is nice to see such as interacting with your pets, cooking and having a meal together, reading, going on a walk or anything else you discuss in your interview that you like to do.

If you are still struggling once you begin filming, please reach out to us at video.specialist@showpromedia.com and an experienced video specialist will help provide examples to you.

Q: WE ARE UNABLE TO SEE OUR FAMILY/FRIENDS THAT WANT TO FILM AN INTERVIEW. WHAT DO WE DO AND HOW DO THEY SEND IT?

A: Your friends or family may submit a video filmed on their own if they have an HD camera or a high quality smartphone that films at least 1080p. If they use a cell phone it must be turned to film horizontally and stabilized, not handheld. Please do not film the interview using the webcam on a computer.

Please make sure they still follow the directions on the Friend or Family Interview sheet. You can find a PDF of this under the Resources tab in your online account. They need to answer the questions listed and follow the guidelines laid out there. The audio guidelines are particularly important since we don’t know the quality of their camera. They should film in an indoor, quiet space and eliminate any distracting noises.

They do not need to do any editing or compression to the file. The easiest method for them to send the video clips would be via a free digital service like Dropbox or Google Drive. They can either send it to you first and you can add it with your materials to mail to us all at once or share it directly to our email video.specialist@showpromedia.com.
